Cherry Almond Smoothie (Gluten Free, Paleo)

Who thought that a cup of smoothie could have so many benefits? A smoothie is usually comprised of a fruits and/or vegetables and some liquid such as juice, water, or milk. Smoothies are a great way to get in some extra nutrients and healthy fats. Whenever you feel like snacking on something unhealthy, make a smoothie! They also help keep you hydrated and are better than a donut and cup of coffee for breakfast. The liquid I use in this recipe is almond milk, which you can make fresh here. Almonds are the best source of calcium in nuts, which is important for strong teeth and bones. They also have magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, iron, vitamin E, and fiber. Almonds are filling, which is one of the reasons you can drink this and not feel hungry until your next meal. Cherries have lots of antioxidants, a high water content to keep you hydrated, and melatonin which helps regulate your sleeping pattern. Bananas add natural sugar, and fill you up. They also contain lots of potassium, fiber, and vitamins B6 and C. They are a great work out food because they are light and give lots of natural energy.

  1. Looks like a really simple, delicious recipe! I had no clue cherries had melatonin, but seems like a great additional benefit!
