One Pot Mong Masoor Daal

Recipe

– 1 cup Mong daal (yellow lentils) – 1 cup Masoor daal (red lentils) – 4 cloves garlic – 1 yellow onion, sliced – 2 medium tomatoes, chopped – 2 green chilies – 1 tsp salt – 1 tsp red chili flakes – 1 tsp coriander powder – 1 tsp turmeric – 1 tsp garam masala – 1 tsp roasted cumin seeds – 4 button red chilies – 3 tbsp oil (olive or mustard)

STEP 1

Rinse and soak the yellow and red lentils for an hour or more.

 In a large pan, add the soaked lentils, sliced onions, chopped tomatoes, garlic, and green chilies.

Add spices, salt, turmeric, coriander powder, and red chili flakes to the pan.

Add water and let cook for 25-30 minutes on medium flame, or 15 minutes on high pressure in a pressure cooker.

Prepare the tempering by heating oil in a separate pan and adding garlic cloves, button red chilies, and cumin seeds.
