Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 medium green plantain
  • 1 teaspoon oil I used avocado
  • 1 tablespoon Jerk Seasoning *Link to recipe or storebought
  • 1/2 teaspoon organic cane sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • Pinch Cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer 375 degrees.
  • Wash plantain, using a knife cut off the ends and discard, make a straight cut along the skin and the length of the plantain, making sure you are only cutting the skin and not deep into the flesh. Remove the skin with your fingers and discard.
  • Using a sharp knife or mandolin cut plantain into thin slices.
  • Place plantain in a bowl, toss with oil, jerk seasoning, sugar, ginger, paprika, salt, cayenne.
  • Place plantain in a single layer on the basket of the air fryer and cook for 10-12 minutes until crisp.
  • Eat immediately or store plantain chips will get crispier as they cool. Store plantain chips in an airtight container.
