How To Freeze Apples?

Do you have an abundance of fresh apples on hand? Freeze them! Fruit that has been frozen and thawed has a softer texture. Freeze apples that aren't in season for long.

Ingredients

  • 4 apples
  • 1 lemon or 1 tablespoon salt
  • water to submerge apples

Instructions

  • Place water in a large bowl. Stir in salt until dissolved. Add the remaining water cold. Peel and slice apples
  • Squeeze 1 lemon or one tablespoon into the water and set aside.
  • Peel, core, and slice apples (leave the skin on if you desire). Submerge into the prepared water.
  • Drain apples using a colander, shaking it to remove excess water.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place apple slices in a single layer.
  • Transfer the baking sheet to the freezer and freeze for 2-3 hours, depending on your freezer temperature.
  • Write the date on a freezer bag. Remove baking sheet from the freezer and transfer the frozen apple slices to the freezer bag and return to the freezer.
