My favorite toast is Avocado Toast with Tomatoes, it is so delicious you should give it a try!  Creamy avocado and hummus spread on toast and top with cherry tomatoes.

I didn’t even think about doing a recipe with avocado on toast because I have been making it for many years without even thinking. We have taken it as sandwiches on several road trips across the Eastern Coast of the USA.

When I was looking to come up with an easy, delicious, nutritious, and full lunch for myself on days when I didn’t have time to cook anything more elaborate or didn’t have leftovers from the night before, I came across this idea.

The combination of bread, avocado, and tomato is one of my all-time favorites… And it’s for this reason that I decided to give this dish a go! They complement each other well, and if you like avocado, you’ll adore this meal.

Avocados have a lot of calories, but don’t let that deter you. They’re packed with fiber, potassium, and disease-fighting antioxidants, as well as keeping you satiated for longer. Moreover, a little goes a long way.

When my son insisted on having my avocado toast, I knew it was going to be a hit in our family. You know how successful this is if you have picky eaters. If you haven’t yet introduced your children to avocado toast, now is the time! Allow them to choose their favorite toppings and bread type to get them enthused about it. It’s great for breakfasts, lunches, and healthy dinners!

Avocado toast may be prepared in a variety of ways, but the finest avocado toast has eggs and tomatoes. Avocado pairs well with crusty toast, sweet cherry tomatoes, and creamy hummus. If you don’t like eggs or tomatoes, don’t worry — avocado toast can be made without them! Simply follow the directions in this recipe and let your imagination run wild.

Avocado toast is easy to make and takes less than five minutes. It’s creamy, flavorful, wholesome, soothing, and nutritious. The nice thing is that we may use as many different tastes as we like. Furthermore, the toppings are limitless.

Avocado Health Advantages

Avocado has 3 grams of dietary fiber per serving. Fiber is thought to be important in preventing a variety of chronic diseases. Coronary artery disease, certain cancers, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disorders are among them. A high-fiber diet aids digestion while also lowering cholesterol levels. It also helps to regulate blood sugar, reduce insulin resistance, and relieve constipation.

Dietary fiber also makes you feel fuller. This helps in weight loss and obesity reduction.

Avocados have potassium, which lowers blood pressure, helps in keeping fluid and electrolyte balance, and keeps your body healthy. It also serves as a source of “chemical fuel” for muscular contractions and relaxation.

Avocados are high in vitamins C and vitamins E, both of which are necessary for human tissue development and repair. Vitamins C and E also act as antioxidants, reducing inflammation and boosting immunity.

You can basically get the ingredients from any grocery store in the country. If you are on a gluten-free plan then you can try my Gluten-Free Vegan Bread. I also have a great gluten-free recipe in my cookbook. If you want to omit the bread altogether, try my Pineapple Guacamole Baked Plantains, so yummy!

Tomatoes Provide Several Health Advantages!

This meal is brimming with flavor thanks to the tomatoes. Tomatoes, which are mostly carbohydrate-based with some fiber, are vitamin-dense, including beta-carotene (which when consumed converts to vitamin A), vitamins C and E, as well as certain B vitamins and vitamin K. They also have calcium and magnesium in them.

There is also a lot of potassium in tomatoes that have been found to help prevent strokes and heart disease. Studies have found that tomatoes, which are naturally red, contain a chemical called lycopene that may help prevent cardiovascular disease.

Avocado Toast with Hummus

Ingredients Descriptions And Variations

Bread: Any kind of bread will do, but I use gluten-free bread. To provide some variation, bagels, crumpets, or English muffins might be used.

Avocados: Hass avocados should be ripe but not overripe. Choose avocados that yield slightly when gently squeezed, but avoid mushy or stringy avocados on the inside. When cutting them open, scrape out any bruised or discolored portions and discard them before mashing the remainder.

Cherry tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes have a juicy interior and are vibrant, sweet, and acidic. They’re a fantastic match for the creamy avocado. Grape tomatoes will work, although their skins are thicker and their flavor isn’t as sweet. Also, if you want larger tomatoes on your bread, try Roma slices or roasted tomatoes.

Cilantro: You just need a few leaves of cilantro. If you’re not a fan of cilantro, substitute basil for it.

Hummus: Hummus: Make your own hummus or buy your favorite flavor from the supermarket; whatever works for you!

Lime juice: lime juice provides a tiny taste to the avocado while also keeping its bright green — a win-win!

Garlic: Some individuals like garlic in their avocado bread, while others prefer it without. I love it only a little.

Salt and Pepper: Never underestimate the importance of seasoning your food. A touch of salt brings out all of the wonderful tastes, and cayenne pepper provides a hint of heat.

How To Make Avocado Toast With Tomatoes?

I basically toast the bread and mash the avocados with minced garlic, lime, cilantro, and salt. You can use a fork or potato masher to mash your avocado. Add hummus, cherry tomatoes, and parsley. Don’t mind the way I photographed the toasts, I basically wanted you to see them separate but it is great to layer them on one slice.

Don’t Forget About The Toppings.

This is the foundation for any great avocado toast. Lemon provides freshness, while salt and pepper bring out the flavors. Cherry tomatoes are a good match for creamy avocado.  You may eat it exactly like this, or be more creative with it! Here are a few toppings suggestions:

  • For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes.
  • For a crunch, use nuts or seeds.
  • If you are not vegan a soft-boiled egg for added protein and a delicious runny center.
  • Lobster for out-of-this-world amazingness.

How To Serve Avocado Toast With Tomatoes?

It may be served as part of a larger meal (or even brunch!) despite the fact that it is a full breakfast. It goes well with natural orange juice, coffee, oat milk, or any other plant milk, tofu scramble, and breakfast potatoes, among other things. Serve it with whichever food you like!

Recipe Notes

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I Refrigerate The Avocado Toast With Tomatoes?

Because the avocado will oxidize and become brown, and the bread will get soft and mushy, I suggest eating it soon now! This dish is ideal for preparing just before dining since it only takes around 5 minutes to prepare.

What Is The Flavor Of Avocado Toast?

Of course, this may vary depending on the kind of bread you’ve used and any other flavors or toppings you’ve added. However, this meal, with its crunchy toast and creamy, thick avocado, is a delightful mix of flavors and textures for me. Avocado has a mild taste, which makes it ideal for combining with citrus juice, spice, and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.

Is The Combination Of Tomato And Avocado Good?

Combining tomatoes with avocado may seem like a no-brainer if you’re a fan of Mexican cuisine. The good news is that avocados’ healthful fat is thought to aid in the absorption of lycopene, the antioxidant molecule that gives red, orange, and yellow produce its color.

Is Avocado Toast Good For You?

Yes, of course! This is one of the most nutritious breakfasts or snacks you’ll ever eat. Avocados are highly healthy and have several health advantages, thus it’s cooked using raw and whole components. Furthermore, you have the option of selecting the type of bread you will consume, allowing you to entirely tailor your meal!

How Should I Store My Avocados?

Unripe avocados should be kept on the counter. When the avocados are fully ripe, store them in the refrigerator to avoid becoming mushy. When they are on sale, I like to buy a bunch and refrigerate them to save money. If you have cut avocado, wrap it in plastic wrap before putting it into an airtight box and keep it in the refrigerator.

Does Avocado Toast Help You Lose Weight?

Avocados are high in nutrients and include healthful fats and fiber. This may help you feel satisfied for longer, enhance your gut health, and be a good weight-loss strategy. It all depends on the toppings you choose and the bread you use. Use a whole-grain piece of bread with whole-food toppings to get the best health benefits.

What Kind Of Hummus Should I Use?

It’s all up to you! Choose hummus plain or garlic for a balanced taste. Hummus with roasted red peppers, miso, or even beets. I prefer homemade hummus, although Sabra, Cedar’s, and store-brand are also fine choices.

Do You Eat Avocado Skin?

Is it possible to eat avocado skin? Yes, you can eat the skin of an avocado. Some avocado cultivars, such as Mexola and Topa Topa, have smoother, thinner skins that make them easier to consume with the peel. The texture of most avocado varieties, such as Hass, is rough and lizard-like, making them unpleasant to chew.

Can You Eat Avocados Raw?

Absolutely! Avocados, like any other fruit, may be eaten uncooked. It’s flavorful enough to eat without any additional spice or preparation. Enjoy with a pinch of salt.
