I love that it doesn’t even require a lot of attention. I always loved just grabbing a quick box of garlic to be toasted, and now homemade garlic bread is just in my freezer waiting to be toasted.

We save money by making our own version, which also tastes better. It’s a win-win situation all around.

I tend to add garlic to all of my meals, and it is honestly not on purpose. However, you can supplement your diet with garlic, and it will not even feel like supplementation since it is used as a seasoning aid. 

I believe nearly every civilization that has had access to garlic has used it as medicine, and rightfully so. Garlic has been documented as such going back to ancient history.

Garlic has sulfur compounds that affect a whole host of biological functions in a positive way.

Studies have shown that eating garlic can help to prevent a common cold in a large percentage of subjects, and those who got sick had a less severe or shorter illness on average.

Garlic helps those with hypertension (high blood pressure) and high LDL (bad) cholesterol by lowering both.

In several different studies, garlic seems to help with longevity and increased quality of life.

As always, please do not come off any medication or make any dietary changes without discussing it with your medical provider.

However, all in all, one can see how adding garlic to your food can not only make it taste delicious, but help keep you healthy.

How To Make Garlic Bread?

Garlic bread is made from bread, typically a baguette or sourdough like ciabatta, but also is common on Texas toast. I love both versions, but Texas toast garlic bread is such a classic tradition I had to use it. Plus, when making garlic bread for your freezer, you want to avoid crispy or crunchy loaves of bread, like baguettes or sourdough bread.

This is because time in the freezer can remove some of the moisture in the bread, but when you are using a moister choice such as Texas toast, you won’t taste a difference.

My favorite gluten-free Texas toast has been topped with garlic, butter or olive oil, and herbs like parsley or oregano. If you like, you can add some Vegan Parmesan Cheese as well. It’s then toasted on the grill, pan-fried, or baked in a traditional oven or air fryer.

When making your garlic herb butter, you can add the herbs and spices of your choice. Make your garlic bread as personalized as you would like for some variety!

Frozen Garlic Bread Recipe

So, here’s what you’ll require to make vegan gluten-free garlic bread:

  • Texas Toast
  • Vegan Butter
  • Garlic
  • Garlic Powder
  • Parsley

How To Make Frozen Garlic Bread

1.   Make A Garlic Herb Butter

Take a small bowl, add vegan butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, parsley and Mix well.

2.   Smear The Texas Toast With Butter Mixture

Smear Texas toast slices with butter mixture and place on a baking tray.

5.   Freeze Them

Freeze the buttered slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. When frozen, then transfer to a freezer-friendly bag to store for later. Frozen garlic bread can be used for up to 3 months. If you want, top with additional vegan Parmesan.

Frozen Garlic Bread – Reheating and Serving

There’s no need to thaw the frozen garlic bread slices before using them; they can go directly from the freezer to the oven. When you want to serve, preheat the oven to 425°F (200°C). On a baking sheet, arrange frozen bread slices butter-side up. Bake for 5 minutes, or until the butter has melted and the edges have turned golden. Serve right away.

You could wrap the slices in the foil before baking if you prefer a softer garlic bread rather than one with crispy edges.

Is Frozen Garlic Bread Healthy

The store-bought garlic bread made with white bread might be with artificial butter and flavors, so this is not healthy. White bread is almost devoid of nutrients, the complete opposite of nutrient-dense bread. So, It’s not a good option for you. White bread is practically empty of fiber. It’s not good for you.

Garlic, particularly fresh garlic, is highly beneficial to one’s health. Tiny quantities of vegan butter is safe because it contains healthy fats that we need.

How Long Frozen Garlic Bread Last?

I would say try to use this garlic bread within three months of freezing. But it never lasts that long, if we’re honest, because it’s too good!

For frozen food, the quality and taste decrease slowly, so you don’t want to keep the frozen food too long in case it develops freezer burn. However, even then it is technically safe to eat.

What Do I Serve Garlic Bread With?

Spaghetti (or other marinara-based dishes) and garlic bread are a classic combination that are eaten very regularly by most. Garlic bread is also an excellent complement to a variety of other foods, including salads, soups, or as sandwich bread.
