How To Cook Brown Jasmine Rice On The Stove

  1. Sort and wash brown rice, using a colander.
  2. Place brown rice and water in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to the lowest setting and cover.
  3. Cook for 50 minutes or until rice is tender. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Storing Tips

Leftover rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 days.

Brown rice can also be frozen for up to 3 months.

To make brown rice taste good, you can choose to cook it with:

  • Herbs like thyme, cilantro, basil
  • Bragg’s Liquid Aminos or soy sauce and green onions.
  • Salt and vegan butter

    1. Are you serious? Brown nice always needs to be washed. White rice is a different story because naturally they removed all the nutrients and replace them with synthetic ones. Read the title we are talking about brown rice. Honestly, I wouldn’t even trust cooking white rice without washing it, but that is just me, you might as well wash off the synthetic stuff and get your nutrients from fruits and vegetables. Only a suggestion!

      1. I agree I always wash any rice I cook, all rice seems quite dusty to me. I have a rice washing colander and use Japanese technique and wash until the water runs clear.

    I have a question about the parchment paper under the lid. Does the paper float on top of rice and water or does it fit on the rim help in place by the lid—maybe a bit of paper sticking out around the lid? Thanks for your response.
