Cilantro fries recipe:

Cilantro Fries are a crispy, healthy, and tempting snack or an addition to any dinner. Additionally, they’re also quite simple and easy to prepare. You’ll require the following simple pantry ingredients and a few simple instructions to follow:

  • 6 Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
  • ¼ cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
cilantro fries ingredients in a bowl

How to make cilantro fries?

  1. Preheat the oven to 425℉. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper and lightly spraying or brushing with oil. Set aside.
  2. Add potato strips with enough water to cover and soak for 30 minutes in a large bowl. This will remove excess starch from the potatoes and result in crispier fries.
  3. Drain and rinse the fries, then dry them with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
  4. Toss the fries with olive oil, sea salt, and nutritional yeast flakes.
  5. Spread in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes, flipping after 15 minutes, or bake until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove fries from the oven and transfer them into a large bowl. Toss fries with cilantro and garlic.

What to serve with fries?

The best time to eat these fries is right after they’ve been cooked. However, if you want to reheat them, I recommend heating them in the air fryer or oven — do not microwave them as they will become mushy.

I like to eat them plain rather than dipping them in ketchup, but the kids, of course, will demand ketchup. They’re also irresistible dipped in hot fry sauce.

Serve them with additional toppings for a variety of flavors, such as grated vegan Parmesan cheese. For an Indian-inspired flavor, sprinkle curry powder over the fries.

This light, spicy, and crisp snack is delicious when paired with crunchy nuts or other protein. Serve with sautéed vegetables. These are also delicious with burgers and pizza.

These fries are even perfect for a romantic date night with creamy smothered tofu chicken. Complete the meal with sautéed green beans!

If you’re getting creative, prepare a dipping sauce for the fries. I especially enjoy dipping them in ranch, guacamole, thousand island dressing, or tzatziki. And ENJOY!

How to store fries?

As I told you earlier, the best way to enjoy these fries is to eat them right away. However, if you have any leftover fries, they can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. Then, simply reheat them in the oven or air fryer, and they’re ready to eat.

These fries are quite easy and quick to prepare, so there is no need to freeze them. However, if you want, you can freeze these fries. Just make sure to cool them completely before storing them in a zip bag or a freezer-safe container after cooking. These should not be thawed. Simply remove from the freezer and reheat.

Recipe Notes and tips:

Here are a few more pointers I learned while preparing these fries that can help you get the best results:

  • The fries will be crispier if you cut potatoes into thin strips. I also tried thick-cut fries that remained very moist or almost soggy.
  • Leave some space among the fries to ensure even baking and crispness.
  • Garlic should be minced as finely as possible. This ensures that the garlic is uniformly dispersed throughout the fries, and you do not take a large bite of garlic.
  • You can also deep fry these cilantro fries. However, I’ve shared the baking method here. Because baking your fries instead of deep-frying them is always a healthier option.
  • You can also make these fries in an air fryer if you like.
  • You can change the spices to keep things interesting if you get bored with this combination. Depending on your preferences, you can use other spices like black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, cumin, or any other seasoning you like (cajun, barbecue, berbere, etc.)
  • If you like, parsley can be substituted for cilantro.
  • You can also substitute avocado oil with any other favorite or available oil like olive oil, canola oil, etc.

Well, you have it — yet another delicious recipe to add to your repertoire. It’s safe to say I’m now officially infatuated with these fries’ flavor.

Take time to sit, dine, and enjoy life together. Make these Cilantro Fries, and let me know how it turns out by leaving a comment on this post! I’d love to hear from you…  Have fun cooking!
