Different ways of making Sweet Potato Chips
Now, I have used a deep fryer to fry these chips, but that means a lot of oil. Even if you pat them dry on kitchen towels, there is still going to be a lot of oil.
So, if you are looking for an oil-free way to enjoy these sweet potato chips and want them to be just as crispy, I recommend you use an air fryer. It will give you amazing results. The cooking makes slightly more time, and you might have to flip them, but the result will be oil-free or very little oil. Moreover, you can also make these chips in an oven.

How to make Sweet Potato Chips?
Making sweet potato chips is by far the easiest thing you can make. It is no different than making potato chips, and if you love them, you will definitely love the slightly sweet flavor of sweet potato chips.
What I love about this recipe is that it requires only three ingredients, i.e., sweet potatoes, paprika, and salt, for flavor. However, you can add more spices according to your liking to make these taste even better.
Now to make these chips, here is what you have to do.
Instructions For Baking
- Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly oil it.
- Start by peeling the sweet potatoes to remove the skin. Once you have peeled them, wash them thoroughly to get rid of any dirt.
- Slice them either with a sharp knife, mandoline or with a chips cutter thinly.
- In a bowl, add potato slices, olive oil, paprika, and salt.
- Toss until the spices cover the potato slices.
- Place the slices on the baking sheet.
- Place the baking tray in a preheated oven at 400-degree F for 30 minutes
- After 15 minutes into the cook, turn over the slices.
- Once the chips get a nice golden-brown color, remove them from the oven and let them cool a bit before serving.

Instructions For The Fryer
Step 1: First of all, you have to peel and wash the sweet potatoes. Because they are underground vegetables, you will find a lot of dirt on them. Therefore, cleaning them thoroughly is compulsory.
Step 2: Once you have cleaned them, slice them either with a sharp knife or with a chips cutter thinly. You can place them in a colander to get rid of excess water. Having water in them while frying will cause hot oil to splatter, so be careful.
Step 3: Heat oil in a deep pan. If you are using a deep fryer, set the temperature to 375 degrees F. Once the oil reaches 375 degrees F, start adding sweet potato slices to the oil. Don’t overcrowd the fryer. Work in small batches.
Step 4: Let the slices cook for about 40 to 50 seconds on each side and flip them using a fork or with tongs.
Step 5: Take the chips out of the oil and place them on a paper towel so that you can get rid of excess oil. Once they crisp up and seem oil-free, place them in a bowl, sprinkle paprika, and salt on top, and enjoy!
