As a Jamaican, I love to make this vegan jerk potato salad for our family gatherings as they all love to have it with the main dish. It is so addictive that it has a rich texture and creaminess with just enough of the delicious jerk sauce flavor to make your dish pop out. What is Yukon Gold Potatoes? 

Yukon gold potatoes originated from Canada in the year of 1960. Gray Johnston did cross between a NA (North America) white potato with a SA (South America) yellow potato. 

Yukon gold potatoes are medium starch potato variants that are relatively moist and firm. These types of potatoes are balanced in their fluffiness and dryness. Its golden flesh has a wonderful taste, and it can fit in many different and unique dishes.

This amazing flavorful Jerk Sauce is often known as that will give you the feel of the sunny heart of the Caribbean! This jerk sauce is very easy to make and goes quite well with salad, rice, peas, patties, and many more. As a vegan, this jerk sauce is an entirely gluten-free and meatless version.

Pickle Relish 

Homemade sweet pickle relish is something that you can enjoy garden-fresh cucumbers all year long. It has a jam-like texture, that is made from fresh cucumber that is seasoned with spices, sugar, and salt. You can easily preserve it as you do not need to worry about keeping it crunchy. Pickle relish is great when you have it with vegan burgers, steak, sandwiches, and mostly salads.   

What Are The Ingredients For Jerk Potato Salad?

  • Yukon gold potatoes
  • Vegan mayo
  • Sweet pickle relish
  • Celery seeds
  • Paprika
  • Celery ribs
  • Green onions
  • Dried dill
  • Jerk sauce
  • Salt

Instruction

  • Start boiling the water in a large pot. Add chopped potato cubes and start boiling to make it perfectly tender. Keep it at least 10-15 minutes to get the potatoes properly cooked. Strain the water out from the potatoes with a colander and keep them aside. 
  • Combine vegan mayo, relish lemon juice, celery seeds, and paprika. Set the mayo dressing aside.
  • Add the potatoes to a large bowl or pot. Stir in celery, green onions, dill, mayo dressing, salt to taste, and jerk sauce. Mix the ingredients properly to get a delicious texture. 
  • Cover and chill before you serve it. 

Notes: 

  • You can leave the skin on your potatoes for added nutritional benefits and texture.
  • Avoid overcooking the potatoes as it is not best for salad but great for mashed potatoes. To test the potatoes, you can insert a fork, and it will give you the feel of the slightest resistance. 
  • You can save the salad in an airtight container by covering it with cling wrap. It will keep the salad fresh for at least 3 days. 
  • Leave the relish out if you don’t love relish.
  • Omit the mayo and use Vegan sour cream instead.
  • For a stronger jerk flavor, double the amount of jerk sauce.
