The tongue is a powerful tool that we use to communicate and express ourselves, but it can also be a source of destruction if not used carefully. Let’s explore the power of the tongue.

Words have the ability to uplift and empower or to demean and destroy. They can create strong emotions such as anger or provide comfort and peace.
It is important to recognize that words possess the power to both positively and negatively impact the lives of others.

What Does the Bible Say  About The Power Of The Tongue?

Through our words, we can cause destruction and chaos, damage reputations, and create a negative impact on the world around us. Careless or malicious speech can lead to severe consequences, not only for others but also for ourselves.
James 3: 5-6 KJV, “Even so, the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell.

JAMES 3:5

A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything–or destroy it! It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire.

JAMES 3:6

A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech, we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.

Select Your Words Wisely

Before a person starts to speak, it’s very important that they think twice and examine their words cautiously before uttering them. Words are spirit and life.
Our words are filled with so much power. This is why everyone should try to develop A personal relationship with the Lord so that the Lord can grant everyone his wisdom, guidance, and assistance to control the tongue.

When A person doesn’t have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, they tend to live a very unstable lifestyle. Today they bless you with their mouths and tomorrow they curse you with the same mouth.  Is this how God desires us to live?

Absolutely not! But the reality is that many people are bent on living such an unstable lifestyle. Because it’s easier for them to fulfill the desires of the flesh when they don’t have a relationship with the Lord.

Our tongue may be a very small organ, but it can definitely create the biggest damage if we don’t put it under subjection to the Holy Spirit.

The tongue is known to have the power of life and death, which is why Whenever we are faced with challenging times, we should be extremely cautious of how we speak to ourselves and to others at that moment.

Expected Growth

When we find ourselves going through life’s problems, we must understand that the way we speak about our situation will determine how long we will remain in it.
But how can we speak the language of breakthrough and deliverance if our minds are not renewed and transformed by the word of God?

Many of us become very impatient with God when we are experiencing challenges, trials, setbacks, etc. And as a result of that it caused many of us to curse God, ourselves, and our problems, instead of praising the Lord, being thankful, and declaring the word of God over our lives and situations.

The Power Of Faith

No matter what life throws at a person they should never quit speaking the language of faith. Never allow your problems to determine how high or low your faith is.
One should always have faith and speak faith even when they don’t see and feel the Lord’s presence, when the problem is increasing and becoming harder to solve their faith in God should not be shifted.

I know this may seem like something that’s easier said than done, but we have to allow ourselves to develop in the Lord where we become mature adults and begin to speak and function as such.

The Lord is expecting growth in the life of every individual that loves and believes in him, he doesn’t want to see his children stagnant.  This is why we must use his divine written words to speak life into and over our lives, situations, families, children, jobs, etc. daily.

When things are not working the way we prayed or anticipated, we need to use the authority in our tongue to call forth those things which are not as though they were.
Speak into existence the change you have been anticipating. Also, Speak into existence that miracle or blessing you have been waiting for. Speak life and not death.

Do Not Practice Speaking Evil Against Others

If you desire to see blessings and great things manifest in your life, quit speaking down on others. When you practice speaking evil of others you are preventing the hand of God from blessing you extraordinarily.

When you speak evil of others You move the hand of God to bless and prosper the one you are speaking evil against.

God has a blessing for all of His children, but we must understand that to obtain certain blessings from the Lord it requires a certain lifestyle, the measure of faith, conduct, etc.
How we treat and speak to our fellow men can either unlock the door to our breakthrough or shut it.

The tongue has so much effect on the human brain and body, that if we refuse to use it wisely it can create a lifetime of pain and no amount of apology or gifts offered will be able to heal the wound of the person who has been affected.

Using Alternatives

So Instead of wounding someone with the tongue, why not use it to speak words of hope and healing?  Rather than using the tongue to curse?
Why Not use it to bless someone? Do not the tongue to gossip and backbite others. Instead, use it to pray for someone. Never use the tongue to speak lies.
Instead, use it to speak the truth. Never the tongue to glorify the devil, instead use it to glorify the LORD.
Always remember that for every idle word that you may release from your mouth today, you will definitely stand before the greatest judge (Jesus Christ) and give an account for them in the future.
So use your tongue wisely. Do Not allow the tongue to Manipulate your actions and force you to commit sins.
