  • Convenience: Using an Air fryer is so convenient. You don’t need additional baking trays, or aluminum foil, or any other thing. All you need is an air fryer basket, potatoes, and the unit. That’s all.
  • Crispy skin: When you bake potatoes in an air fryer, you get a perfectly crispy skin just the way it should. The secret is the cooking mechanism of the air fryer that passes very hot air rapidly. As a result, the potatoes cook well, and the skin has the crunch we all love.
  • Soft interior: Where the exterior is crispy and crunchy, the interior is super soft, moist, and fluffy. It is simply blissful.
  • Healthy option: Well, because we don’t use a lot of oil in an air fryer, it is naturally a healthy option.

Which Potatoes To Choose From?

When you visit a grocery store, you will find several types of potatoes. The most common are russet potatoes, Yukon gold potatoes, red potatoes, and sweet potatoes.  Among the many varieties, russet potatoes are the best for baking. That’s because they have a higher starch content. When you bake starchy potatoes, the interior gets soft and fluffy upon baking.  Furthermore, the skin of russet potatoes is thick. As a result, its skin gets nice and crispy upon baking.

However, if you don’t have russet potatoes available due to any reason, you can choose any other type as well. But do remember that the results can vary. Moreover, sweet potatoes are also a good option for baking. However, they have a slightly sweeter flavor. Furthermore, they are far healthier than other potatoes. So, the choice is yours.

  • Once the timer is up, do test the potatoes before taking them out. You can test them by inserting a sharp knife into them. If it dives in smoothly, it means the potatoes are cooked. If it doesn’t, give them an additional 4 to 5 minutes in the air fryer.
