Our neighbors are gifting us plenty from their garden, more than you could imagine and guess what, I really don’t mind because I love cabbage and it is so good for health.

You might be pulling your hair wondering what you can prepare with cabbage. Don’t worry because we have you covered with lots of yummy recipes that you would never dream of making.

How To Cut Cabbage

  • 1 Remove Damaged outer leaves
  • 2 Wash Cabbage under cold running water, dry.
  • 3 Cut cabbage in half with the core side down from top to bottom, apply pressure at the top of the knife.
  • 4 Cut cabbage halves into two.
  • 5 Hold cabbage wedge with fingers and start cutting into strips. or chopping.
  • 6 Place cabbage in water, add about 1 teaspoon of salt. Let it soak for a minute.
  • 7 Pour cabbage strips into a colander and rinse under cold running water. Drain cabbage.

    Why would I when it’s so easy to add a vegetable to rice while it cooks? And Brussels sprouts make a really good (and healthy) addition. They are a cruciferous vegetable that can protect you against cancer and heart disease.

    A whole lotta cabbage and green onion are the base, but from there you can customize it ‘however you like it’. Replace some of the cabbage with whatever interesting bits you can find in your fridge: shredded carrots or radish, shaved sweet red pepper, bean sprouts, crunchy bits of water chestnuts, chopped herbs, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, bits of leftover cooked meat, sausage, or bacon, or chopped raw shrimp (don’t use other meats raw, as they won’t cook in time).

    Hi Joyce, First off, I”m really sorry your family is going through a similar situation, but am so grateful to know that we are not alone in all of the challenges we”re facing. It truly does help to know that others are in the next phase of recovery and doing well with it. Pete is not in the car business (Ha!) but he”s about as Type A personality and high strung as they come, bless his heart. I already see a few changes in him in that department this week though, which makes me happy. Thank you so much for sharing your story and for the food tips as well! With conflicting diets for the diabetes and the heart disease, it”s a bit confusing(and scary) to know what all he should and shouldn”t eat. But the doctor recommended the “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Diet book as a good guideline for his situation. I”ll have to look into Sprouts and Whole Foods for some food options going forwardthank you for that! Thank you for your prayers, Joyce! I”ll be keeping your family in my prayers as well! January
