We share great Encouragement For College Students as young people set out, leave home, and take a long trip in an attempt at educational
A time comes when young people set out, leave home and take a long trip or not so long in an attempt of higher educational pursuit as the next stage of life demands.
On this noble quest, young adults leave the covering of guardians and parents. This period however also doubles as a potential time of heavy challenges.
Challenges are meant to be overcome, and experience increases with every conquest to make you better. Unfortunately, many who launch out don’t have the fortunate tale of surmounting the obstacles that come their way.
As a college student, there are challenges you will face or may be facing right now. You don’t want to be subdued. You want to be a conqueror and have victory at the end even if not all is rosy now. How do you achieve this?
You can overcome all your trials if you know God’s word and stay with it – it’s your map out of the maze of life’s obstacles or college obstacles in this case. He has said that He will be with you in all you do. Don’t forget that!

The Bible says:
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it..” 1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
God always makes a way of escape. College is full of these obstacles or temptations as the Bible calls them but be comforted in God because He will bring you through.
Let’s look at some of these temptations and their escape routes.
Dealing With Finances
Financial flow can be a stream of possibilities in every endeavor of life. When you’re schooling and need to do a lot of stuff but have limited cash, that’s threatening. It’s not a good place to be.
But be of good cheer because God will supply all your needs. He gave you the privilege to further your studies, so trust He will also give you every resource you need to make it through.
God cares about your finances seeing how useful they will be to you right now. He will open the heavens and supply you with all the cash you need to sort everything out. He will send people who will help you pay tuition and every other bill you may be finding difficult to offset.
The word of God says:
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 KJV
God will give you what you need. He knows what you need to get you through school and everything in life. Hold on to His promise in faith and see your miracle unfold.
Dealing With Academics
School work can become a challenge especially when your grades are not reflecting what you had in mind. It can become discouraging and distressing but you must not allow it to steal your peace.
What you can do in situations like this, is to ask God for favor and do your best to study and pay attention in class.
You need to understand what you’re being taught. If this is difficult, ask God to help you understand and He will. The Bible says:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him..” James 1:5 KJV
If God can give wisdom, He can also give knowledge and understanding. Ask God for an excellent spirit and He will give you. This will radically change your academic story and make it a glorious one.
If you’re facing challenges rising from people who want to victimize you, here’s a word for you to hold on to:
“As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.” Psalms 55:16 KJV
Call on your God and He will save you from every oppressor. Just as He delivered His son, Israel, from the hands of the Egyptians, He will deliver you too.
Dealing With Freedom
Freedom can be a blessing and a curse. Used wisely is a blessing but used unwisely, it becomes our undoing. Paul warns that we don’t allow the liberty of grace to become a snare unto us.
I know how it feels to be free to do whatever you want and unrestricted from going where you want. You have the right and power to do what you want without question. The only problem is you struggle with the resistance within you against going wild and crossing certain lines.
You have the restriction of the Spirit in you, but what you see around you is a strong contender with your resolve to keep yourself holy and righteous.
This is what the word of God says:
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John 17:16 KJV
Be encouraged with the knowledge of who you are. You are not of the world so the things that freak others should not make you lose your head. Your freedom is not in being able to do what you want, but in what God wants.
I know it gets difficult especially when you stand alone as a lighthouse in a cloud of heathen fog around you but make the Lord your strength and make a commitment not to compromise.
It may not be easy but the Lord is faithful to keep you from falling. In you lie the wisdom of God to do what is right and go where is appropriate.
Dealing With Belonging
The feeling of being left out is one every human detests. We were created social beings, meaning we always crave being in a circle of like minds who we can relate to and have as friends.
This is one of the biggest challenges in college. Everyone itches to belong to something and sometimes, they don’t just care what it is so long as they feel among.
Being a believer, your desire to belong is controlled by your purpose. When others scamper to belong everywhere including places that are not of good report, your appetites should be different.
It’s not easy to stand out from the crowd but it’s worth it. If you’re feeling weak and intimidated, know that there’s a way out for you. You don’t have to be unnecessarily hip to prove a point.
You belong to a higher cause. Fellowship with God, the brethren, and living out your purpose is the most happening place to be.
Don’t stand alone, find a circle of believers and get yourself involved with the things of God. This is the easiest and most effective way to overcome the intimidation and desire to belong to something ungodly. The Bible says:
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching..” Hebrews 10:25 KJV
In the gathering of believers, you find all the encouragement you need to conquer college. Also, remember we are social beings but this inherent nature can be channeled in the right direction to please God and do His will.
On your campus, find a Christian fellowship group instead and channel your energy into serving God with them. Belong to this group of believers who will build you spiritually as well as physically.
A Christian group isn’t necessarily a boring one. In groups like these on campus, there are fun, social activities they engage in from a godly perspective. This is the benefit of being in a circle like this as a believer on campus. You don’t get lost in the world but also righteously have fun.
It’s a win-win. It’s possible and is being done by many like you out there. You don’t have to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. God has made better things for you to enjoy without sin.
Dealing With Sex
With the freedom to do and the desire to belong comes the temptation of sexual immorality.
This is a great battle in college. It’s a part of the series of challenges you’ll find or may have found on campus by now. But the Bible has warned against such activities.
“ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 KJV
So, how do you overcome this temptation? It’s by submitting yourself to God. Submit yourself to the power of the Spirit to keep you.
God can keep you whole and sanctified no matter the level of lust raging against you. The Bible says:
“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
God knows what you contend with. He knows how strong the desires of the flesh can be and will help you subdue them. He has given you the power to keep your body under submission to the Spirit of righteousness. This is what Paul says:
“ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway” 1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
You also have the power to discipline your body and keep every ungodly sexual desire under lock and key. If Paul did it, you can do it too alongside millions on campus who are living righteously.
Conclusion
Be aware of God’s willingness to help and keep you in all your ways. Whether you’re faced with the challenge of financial lack, keeping your freedom in check, the longing to belong where the crowd is, or the temptation of immoral sexual activities, God has made provisions to make you overcome them all.
You can’t fail, you can’t lose out. With God, you always win. The college will be one of the best times for you, and you will come out a stronger believer equipped to do more for God and His kingdom.
