This fresh Mango and Avocado Salsa is ideal for the hot summer months. I love both mangoes and avocados, what better way to enjoy them both than in this refreshing salsa, a truly memorable taste of the tropics.
Growing up in Jamaica, we had a lot of mangoes and avocados but we never had them together in the same dish.
I was amazed how delicious they tasted together in this salsa! The juicy and sweet taste of the mangoes and grape tomatoes with the creamy flesh of the avocados is a perfect combo.
I have been making this salsa since then. The varieties of mangoes are countless back home in Jamaica.
I have been very fortunate to eat a wider variety of mangoes this past summer here in Florida than I every had in Virginia. You would be amazed by the different taste, sizes and texture there are in the different varieties.
For this recipe choose a mango that is firm rather than the ones that are very soft and squishy. This dish literally takes 5 minutes to prepare, so it is one of those dishes that you can prepare just before you are about to serve the rest of your menu.
- 1 mango diced
- 1 avocado peeled, pitted and diced
- 1/3 cup grape tomatoes halved
- 1/4 cup red onion diced
- 1 Tbsp lime juice
- 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
- sea salt to taste
Combine mango, avocado, tomatoes, onion, lime juice and cilantro in a medium bowl. Add salt to taste, toss and serve!
